VW downunder. Volkswagen Specialists.

about us

We are VW Down Under, an Essex-based Volkswagen camper specialist with over 15 year's experience selling and restoring VW camper vans to show standard - quality is the key to everything we do.

We never settle for second-best - if the vans under our wing aren't in tip top condition or don't pass our very strict quality control then they quite simply do not leave the workshop until they do.

Everybody who works here at Down Under has a passion for VW campers - we all take great pride in our work and it shows, our vans are head turners.

So, come and meet the people behind the company, we're a friendly bunch!

Paul Mullinger - Owner

Founder of VW Down Under, when Paul isn't in the office speaking to customers, he's in the workshop alongside Allan, building and customising VW campers.

If he's not doing either of the above, he's usually eating ... man, that chap can eat for England!

Claire Weal - Director of Cosy Camper Vans (a subsidiary company of VW Down Under)

Claire runs the hiring of Daisy the camper van, who is incidentally named after Claire and Paul's first baby.

She says that both Daisy's make you smile, but the camper van version doesn't have tantrums!

Allan Haste - Workshop Supervisor

Allan oversees all the work that is undertaken in our workshop and is highly skilled in all aspects of mechanics and welding. He's at his happiest when either welding or making a van panel from scratch. He also has a passion for researching and building performance engines, he loves his engines does Allan.

Chris Boyling - Painter and Prephand

Chris is in charge of all restoration and body work, from painting a bumper to completely restoring a camper. This man knows his stuff and the quality of his work speaks for itself.

Chris often attends and participates in 'drifting' meetings right across the country, including the famous Santa Pod.

John Pugh - Trainee Painter and Prephand

John is our Trainee Painter and Prephand and is as keen as they come. His enthusiasm is outstanding. Watch this space because in no time at all he'll be painting complete shells on his own.

John is at his happiest when he's tinkering with his monkey bike.
