1979 4-berth Automatic Westfalia • £19,995

You'd better hold onto your hats, we've got a fast one here, with some cool modifications too! Born in Germany in 1979 this van was then shipped to sunny California where it lived until November last year. Being a Cali-camper, it really is rust-free, it's never been welded and doesn't need any either (unlike a lot of it's fellow UK buses) it's hard to believe this van is 32 years old.

It was repainted in the US to a nice standard in it's original colour. One key fits all the locks, it has a new stereo and speakers with iPod/iPhone adapter, new wheels with white wall tyres and stainless steel hubcaps. All brakes have been checked and replaced where necessary.

Ok, now to the engine. Originally, it was a 2000cc which had plenty of power to pull this baby along very nicely, but the original owner in the US wanted more, so he fitted a set of 2200cc pistons and barrels which gives it that bit more power for climbing up those big long hills you come across now and then. The auto box changes up the gears very nicely, and having one of our power steering kits fitted it's a real pleasure to drive. Power steering on a 32 year old camper, how cool is that? Click here to see it in action.

The interior, which is in good condition is an original Westfalia Berlin and sleeps 4 adults very comfortably (unlike most buses on the market). As standard it has a cooker, sink and cool box, an on-board gas bottle and water tank. The rock n roll bed, 'rocks n rolls' very easily and the pop top 'pops up' nicely too so it feels lovely and spacious inside. Being German in design and an original Westy Berlin they have given it a nice little touch with the passenger seats swivelling round on a captain's base, they really thought about these Westfalia interiors did the Germans!

What else do you get? Well, 12 month's MOT for a start, plus 6 month's tax and 3 month's warranty on all parts and labour. Plus, quite possibly the fastest automatic VW camper van for sale in the UK at the moment, not that you'll want to be speeding everywhere, take your time, enjoy the view and watch those heads turn as you cruise by!
