1973 RHD Westfalia • £Sale pending
|Yet another solid VW Westfalia being sold by VW Down Under. This camper had a light restoration back in 2003 which included being painted in this fabulous striking yellow and it's a real head turner.
The body is in a lovely condition and the under body is very solid. This camper originally left the factory in 1973 and went to Westfalia to have the interior conversion done - Westfalia were the only interior and roof conversion company that VW put their name to and it shows - it's very original and still in amazing condition, all the rock and roll bed fabrics are in very good condition and original too, very hard to find nowadays on an English bus as they've usually been replaced on a bus that is 40 years old!
The 2-ring gas burner, sink with manual pump and cool box, table, lift-up side seat and spice rack all work and look very retro - rear seat belts have also been fitted. The front seats and door cards have been re-covered in a red material and really suit the bus, the pop top canvas is original and considering it's 40 years old it's held up well.
The van drives very well, being pulled along by a 1700cc twin carb engine, which has just been fully serviced and rolling road tuned so, she purr's. The heat exchangers all work and so does the heater. The engine had new cylinder heads a couple of years ago and a new rear exhaust box and a tow bar. All brakes were replaced about two years ago, so it's fair to say that this bus has been very well looked after and remember, it's only covered 88k miles from new.
